TRAINING CHOIR
The Training Choir is open to boys and girls who are in grades 1-5, and have a love of singing. This first level of training teaches fundamental music theory and skills in a fun and joyful environment. This program is not performance-based. Rather, it prepares young singers for more advanced work in the upper choirs.

CONCERT CHOIR
This choir is considered the advanced level of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, with admission by the invitation from the Director. Repertoire for this choir is more challenging and includes material in four-part harmony with greater emphasis on foreign language singing. Musicianship training continues to build strong vocal as well as sight- reading skills. Concert Choir members are generally music readers, must be very focused, and are capable of singing their own part independently of someone else. Mentorship between and the younger and older members is encouraged during rehearsals. There is a more intense concentration on performance in this choir as it annually includes concerts with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The Concert Choir can be called upon to represent our city at various community events, and on occasion will travel to perform outside of Jacksonville.
Singers are expected to attend one (1) rehearsal weekly
In the fall of 2009, weekly rehearsals will be held in Orange Park and in downtown Jacksonville
Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2051 Park Avenue on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. OR
First United Methodist Church, 225 E Duval Street on Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Most members of this Choir are at least 11 years of age by September 1st. Group instruction continues to build on healthy vocal production, and the development of music reading skills through the use of unison, two-part and some three-part literature. Again, the music chosen for this choir is composed expressly for youth of this age and may contain more foreign language. Aural skill development continues to be strengthened through the use of theory, solfege and sight-reading exercises. Performances include the major fall and spring concerts, concerts with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, annual Honor’s Choir Festival, and other community performances.
