Do you know a child who loves to sing?
Welcome to the wonderful world of children singing! The goal of the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is to introduce and develop a love of artistic singing in the children of the First Coast. Through the rehearsal and performance of music representing many cultures and styles, our world is enriched and expanded. It is our hope that your experience in the JCC will bring rich and lasting memories to you and your family.
The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is divided into three choir sections: Training Choir, Treble Choir and Concert Choir. The 2008-2009 season will run from September and end by early May.
Rehearsals are held one time weekly on either Monday, Tuesdays or Thursdays depending on choir placement.
The training choir rehearsals take place at Hyde Park Elementary School, 5300 Park Street, Brentwood Elementray School, 3750 Springfield Blvd. , Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2051 Park Avenue and Mandarin Presbyterian Church, 11844 Mandarin Road.
The Concert Choir and Treble Choir rehearsal takes place at First United Methodist Church, 225 E Duval Street .
There is also an alternate Concert Choir rehearsal site at Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2051 Park Avenue .
While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity and readiness.
You do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune, and to hold one’s voice part against others.
